The New England Chapter of the Exhibit Designers and Producers Association (EDPA) held their First Annual Golf Tourney, and we at Champion were pleased to lend our support as the tournament sponsor. The Freeman Companies made up the team for the winning foursome; other winners included Mike Bloy from the Freeman Companies for closest-to-the-pin, Ed Finnegan of The Freeman Companies for longest drive (men) and Sharon Bingham of Champion Transportation Services for longest drive (women). A great day was had by all and we look forward to next year!

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit The EDPA Foundation, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, formed last year by the EDPA Board of Directors in order to help improve the quality of life for less fortunate industry members, to build for the future of the trade show industry, to attract new design talent through scholarship programs, and to provide a tax exempt method for industry members to show their support for the exhibition industry. You can learn more about the EDPA and the foundation by visiting their website at www.edpa.org.

Champion celebrates 25th Anniversary of Corporate Offices

2005 marks the 25th Anniversary of Champion Logistics Group. What better way to celebrate than with clients, co-workers and supplier partners at a party featuring decor and food from around the country? Champion welcomed nearly 100 local clients into the Woburn facility, converted for the evening festivities with food stations and decorations featuring Chicago, Los Angeles, New Orleans and San Antonio. Travel related items were given away all evening; many happy party-goers went home with new luggage, portable dvd players and even a pair of airline tickets.

The 2005 Health Care Exhibitors Association Annual Convention, held in New Orleans, LA, marked the 75th Anniversary of the HCEA, and Champion was glad to be a part of it!

In keeping with the local flavor, Champion's booth portrayed a voodoo shoppe theme.

In addition to donating all proceeds from the sale of coffee in Champion's staff kitchen, the Boston office matched funds by employees. Champion Chicago, Laarhoven Design of Atlanta and many staff members were quick to jump in and raise over $1,800.00 in the month of January. Thank you to all who donated, and thanks to Jamuna as well, for giving us an opportunity to help.

Champion Chicago Vice President runs Marathon

Recognize the guy in red? Tom Beard of Champion Logistics Group, Chicago, finished his first ever Chicago Marathon October 10th. And if that's not enough, he flew to Atlanta the very next day to participate in the 10th Annual Randy Smith Memorial Golf Classic. "I knew that despite the event being rescheduled this year and the conflict with my personal schedule, I was going to attend this year’s event." said Tom in a recent conversation. "After running the day before, the soreness in my legs was nothing compared to what the beneficiary families have gone through. We all need to support the RSMGC, in Atlanta, in regional events like the Chicago Chapter EDPA Golf Outing held this past August and throughout the year in any way we can." Congratulations to Tom Beard for his finish in the marathon and for his support of a very worthy cause!

Champion Transportation… it’s a no-brainer!

TS2, the trade show about trade shows, was recently held in the New Washington Convention Center and Champion Transportation was proud to be included as one of this year’s exhibitors.

Attendees were greeted by Champion staff by being asked "Do you need a brain??" a question typically answered by a laugh and an inquisitive look at the gooey and sticky brains in a petri dish that were being handed out on the show floor. Attendees learned more about Champion’s trade show division as they spent time throwing the brains against the back wall of the exhibit. For more information about TS2 or TSEA, the non-profit organization that produces the event, please visit www.tsea.org
